Safety is often the first question we hear from travellers planning a trip to Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, or Turkey. With headlines sometimes highlighting regional conflicts or political tensions, it’s understandable to have concerns.
The short answer is that it is safe to travel. Millions of travellers visit the Caucasus every year without issues, and these destinations remain welcoming, culturally rich, and well-prepared for international visitors. Many of our customers, including large school groups, have travelled with us, and everyone has returned very happy — with no problems at all. We closely monitor local conditions, maintain constant contact with our teams, and ensure that your trip is safe and stress-free.
Below, we review individual destinations to provide more detailed information and help you plan your journey with confidence.
Armenia – Safe and Welcoming
Armenia is widely regarded as a peaceful and safe destination. Major tourist areas — including Yerevan, Lake Sevan, Dilijan, and Tatev — are calm, easy to navigate, and offer exceptional hospitality. Crime levels are low, and visitors frequently comment on the feeling of safety both during the day and at night.
Armenia – Azerbaijan Relations & Nagorno-Karabakh.
The long-standing Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan has largely been resolved following the events of 2020 and 2023. The region is now fully under Azerbaijani control, with no remaining Armenian residents or active hostilities. In August 2025, Armenia and Azerbaijan took a significant step toward long-term stability by initialing a US-mediated peace agreement, titled “On the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan”.
Although the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan remains closed, tourist areas are far from conflict zones. All our tours that include Armenia and Azerbaijan pass through Georgia, allowing you to explore the region and experience multiple countries while avoiding any sensitive areas.
Georgia – Safe Travel and Abkhazia/South Ossetia Note
Georgia is one of the region’s most popular destinations, attracting millions of tourists each year. Cities like Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, and the Kakheti wine region are welcoming, well-organised, and safe. Crime levels are low, and public transport, restaurants, and attractions are tourist-friendly.
Important Note on Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
Two breakaway regions — Abkhazia and South Ossetia — are not accessible from the rest of Georgia and have specific political and security considerations. These areas are strictly off-limits to international travellers, and it is illegal (under Georgian law) to enter them from Russia. Our tours do not operate anywhere near these territories, and they have no impact on travel to the main tourist regions of Georgia.
All our itineraries remain firmly within safe, fully controlled, and well-travelled parts of the country, far from any sensitive borders.
Azerbaijan – Safe and Modern
Azerbaijan’s capital Baku, as well as Sheki, Ganja, and Gobustan, are all safe for travellers. Streets are modern, well-policed, and welcoming. Cultural attractions, hotels, and roads used on our tours are located far from any sensitive border areas.
Azerbaijan combines modern infrastructure with rich history, including Silk Road towns, ancient mosques, and natural wonders like the Caspian coast and mud volcanoes — all in areas considered completely safe for tourists.
Turkey – Safety and Modern Tourism
Turkey is a major international tourism hub, with millions of visitors each year. Cities and regions featured in our tours, such as Istanbul, Cappadocia, Antalya, and Izmir, remain safe, well-secured, and extremely visitor-friendly.
Security is highly visible at airports, transport hubs, and major tourist attractions. Our tours always operate in well-established routes and areas with strong safety measures, ensuring travellers can enjoy the country without concern.
